The William Hunt Trilby Tour will be returning to Northamptonshire in 2019, once again hosted at countryside hotel Whittlebury Park. The Trilby Tour is a challenging, televised competition, which is widely considered to be the closest experience to a professional tournament for amateur golfers. Whittlebury’s 36-hole championship golf course, which dates back to 1905 and once formed part of the Royal Whittlewood Forest, has been chosen by tour organisers for its challenging layout, diversity of the holes and the dedication and commitment the team have shown to making this regional the best one of the season.
Now going into its 12th year, the Trilby tour will return to Whittlebury for the second consecutive year on 25 June 2019 as one of 9 regional championships. Free Sports, which will be televising the tour, anticipates an audience of 18 million for the regional championships and international final. The regional championship at Whittlebury will be open to spectators, with many die-hard Trilby Tour fans attending every year to witness the ‘winner takes all’ competitive format, which culminates in a 3-hole shootout to decide the champion.
Head of Event Sales, Emma Hayes said; ‘We are delighted that the Trilby Tour is returning to Whittlebury Park this year after successfully hosting in 2018. The event gives us an opportunity to showcase Whittlebury Park’s facilities to hundreds of golfers and we endeavour to give the players an experience they will never forget. All our team and members get involved with meet and greets, and from a spectator perspective, it is really exciting to watch. Our Atrium Clubhouse is used throughout the day and we even create a custom course specifically for this event. The Trilby team are brilliant to work with I have always been a strong supporter of the tour, I am thrilled that we have this opportunity to host again.'
Participants and spectators will also have the option of staying in one of Whittlebury’s 254 bedrooms and making use of the on-site facilities, which include an award-winning Day Spa and several bars and restaurants.
