My Journey at Whittlebury Park:Grand Prix to Gala Dinner from the perspective of Kate Mullen, Senior Event Planner

Whittlebury Park has been more than just a workplace—it's been a journey of growth, resilience, and new experiences over the past 16 years. From starting as a waitress in 2008 to my current role as a Senior Events Planner, I hope my journey reflects my passion for creating unforgettable experiences.

Let’s start at the beginning, from 2008 when I joined Whittlebury Park as a waitress. However, my ambition and drive quickly propelled me into new roles, from handling phone calls during university breaks to managing the reception desk at the Atrium Golf Club House, I steadily climbed the ranks. I shortly found a love for weddings leading me to an assistant wedding coordinator role, eventually taking charge of these events myself.

The COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges, but I refused to give up! Returning to work in May 2021, I embraced the opportunity to explore the corporate sector, expanding my expertise beyond weddings. My responsibilities grew to encompass managing corporate events, expanding my knowledge in the hospitality industry.

Throughout my tenure, I am proud to have celebrated numerous milestones and unforgettable experiences. From orchestrating accommodation bookings for weddings to overseeing camping experiences during Silverstone events, to celebrating achievements including winning awards like the Asian Wedding Awards and the TWIA regionals, as well as receiving recognition for my contributions with accolades such as my nomination for the Employee of the Year and winning the Sunshine of Whittlebury award.

Whittlebury Park is more than just a workplace—it's a community. The sprawling estate offers endless possibilities, from hosting intimate meetings to grand outdoor festival events. My role not only involves meticulous planning but also first-hand immersion in the vibrant atmosphere of events like the British Grand Prix camping.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about the future possibilities and challenges. This year we’re pushing further and harder than ever before for sell out Grand Prix camping and shared party nights, to even more extravagant dinners and corporate gathers, whatever the idea, we want to go bigger and better!

As I share my journey at Whittlebury Park, it serves as an inspiration for aspiring professionals in the hospitality industry and beyond.
