Creative Cakes

Creative cakes by Teresa and Joanna was established in 1987 by Teresa after spending many years making celebration cakes for family and friends. Teresa's daughter Joanna joined the company in 2003.

Together they can create a wonderful cake that says as much about you as a couple as it does about the most important day in your lives.

We asked the lovely ladies at Creative Cakes a few questions about their business and why they love it...

How did your career begin?

Teresa used to make birthday cakes for Joanna and her sisters as children and increasing to friends birthday.  The request became more and more and she decided to take the leap and started creative cakes.  Joanna worked in an office job for many years and then decided she wanted to do something more creative so joined her mum in the busisness

Apart from understanding, the vision of the couples themselves, what other aspect of your job is ensures a successful wedding?

Good customer care,  reliable and helpful.  Going the extra mile.

Why do you love your job?

Love the creative aspect – having the free rein on cakes.  Challenges with some new designs.  The brides reaction when she sees her finished cake is amazing

Apart from weddings, what else does your job involve?

Birthday cakes,   anniversary cake and christening cakes – plus the odd unusual request

What would you say to anyone thinking of doing your job as a career?

Dedication and hard work

Is there a particular wedding and personal highlight that you will always remember?

Non wedding – being asked to make a gold medal cake for Greg Rutherford after he won the Olympic gold in 2012 and then presenting it to him live on BBC look east

Wedding highlight is always when the bride cries when she sees her cake
